Lies

Dogpaddling Through Life

Truth came calling.
I kept stalling;
but, tired of waiting,
it flung the door open wide
and forced me to look inside
at all those secrets
I’d been keeping needlessly.
I hid the real me
from those I thought mattered.
All illusions now shattered.
I wasn’t even a blip on their radar.
By far the one who mattered most
got from me the least.
Better late than never I suppose.
On life goes
and I’ve got lots of making up to do
with myself.
